And mortals we are
The guy that was in isolation room and covered in tubes, had a a lung cancer. Had. He passed away yesterday. I could hear the family crying, but the staff plays it so discrete that you don't see what is going on. Then the door of the room was closed. And later in the evening they were taking the bed out of the room that became empty. Empty! Some hours before there was still a thin sign of life. 38 years old. American. Doctors kept him alive overnight so that the family could arrive from US and spend his last minutes at his side. We are here and all of a sudden we are not anymore.....the vulnerability of life. A fine line....

a fine line for the good and for the bad.. as life can change in a split of second into either direction! so I guess the basic rule is to ALWAYS have apreciaton!
Um hospital é um sítio duro para se estar. Há uns 25 anos fui visitar a minha Mãe, que tinha tido uma crise inesperada e assustadora de hipertensão. Estava num primeiro andar do hospital e ao lado estava uma doente muito mal. Quando saí da visita e cheguei ao estacionamento, vi, pela janela, a vizinha a morrer. Soube que nunca iria trabalhar num hospital. Mas a verdade é que a minha Mãe saiu de lá curada e está em muito boa forma. E tal como ela, milhares de pessoas todos os dias. Prefiro pensar assim.
